Once more, artist Brian Neher is hosting an art contest, “You be the Judge”. Every two weeks for the next seven weeks, Neher will choose 15 works that artists have submitted online and provides viewers with an opportunity to vote for their favorite. Neher will then pool the seven winners of the biweekly contests together and will ask viewers to vote for the Grand Prize winner.
The Grand Prize includes opportunities for the winner to display his or her artwork in major art publications and to study with a professional artist. The Grand Prize also includes a number of books intended to educate and to inspire the artist. This year, Yale University Press will contribute John Singer Sargent: Figures and Landscapes, 1900-1907: The Complete Paintings, Volume VII, by Richard Ormond and Elaine Kilmurray; covering a time of extensive travel for the artist, the seventh volume in this project examines his vivid and evocative interiors and wild landscapes, whose influences and subjects range from desert scenes to deserted European parks.
“You be the Judge” art contest runs through May 26, 2013. Artists, the final submission deadline is April 30. Viewers, the first of the bi-weekly contests has lapsed, but don’t wait to vote for the current round, which ends March 17th. Vote here and check out last week’s winner!
